Design and commissioning of siemens vfd control system to operate a 3 HP booster pump through pid control.

The VFD is constantly monitoring the pressure, through a 4-20 mA pressure sensor, adjusting pump speed accordingly, and only a small pressure tank to act as a buffer is needed.

The system help operating the pump at a constant pressure setpoint, reducing energy consumption and decrease the number of On/Off. The soft start, soft stop functionality of the VFD help reducing the water hammer and extend the lifetime of the pump system.

When the pressure reaches the setpoint and after a preset time, the VFD enters in Hibernation mode to further energy saving.
